Challenging Nature Photography

An exhibit of nature and wildlife photography to raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which is commonly called Lou Gehrig's disease

Rhinoceros
Kenya

This herd of rhinoceros was grazing near Lake Nakuru in Kenya. Seeing them so close is exhilarating. This herd was placidly grazing seemingly oblivious to the tour buses parked nearby. The rhinos actually approached so close that the guide had to move the vehicle to keep a proper distance. Unfortunately the animals are still actively hunted and killed for their horns. In some places the game management personal actually cut the horns off the animals to prevent their slaughter.
