One of the things that allow a PALS to stay motivated and hopeful for the future is the promise for a cure.  Currently there are several research groups investigating possible theories about the causes of motor neuron death in ALS.  Many different trials involving ALS patients are in process at several Clinics in the US.  The human genome mapping and stem cell research offer the possibility of therapies to stop the progress of this devastating disease if not a cure.
